BC3's College Within The High School (CWHS) program is specifically designed for college bound students who have demonstrated strong academic performance by the end of their sophomore year. The program allows academically accelerated students (with a 3.0+ G.P.A. and the permission of their guidance counselor or principal) to earn transferable college credits during their junior and senior years right in their own high school.
A maximum of 15 credits may be taken over the student's juniour and senior year, equivalent to one full semester of college work. Students may apply for the program anytime during their junior or senior year. Since the program began in the fall of 1997, over 2,300 students have participated.
CWHS courses use the same syllabus and instructional materials and follow the same semester schedule as the courses do when made up only of regularly enrolled postsecondary students.
Classes are scheduled in area high schools before/after the school day, in the evening, or on a Saturday OR are available via the Internet. Go to Distance Education for more information about Internet-based courses. Fall semester classes run for 16 weeks from early September through December, and spring semester classes run for 16 weeks from mid-January through May. Summer College Within the High School classes are also offered at many area high schools as well.
To register for a CWHS class, new students should:
