In fall 2004, BC3 transformed its strategic planning process and formed the Planning Resources Team to provide significant information to the president and cabinet. The team helped create a new vision statement, performed an environmental scan, and helped define a number of strategic initiatives based upon the most current information and priorities facing the College. BC3's new strategic plan builds upon its mission, vision and goals and encompasses information about the institution, the community it serves and the greater region.
The College will create an approach that includes both student recruitment and retention. Student recruitment will include such issues as geography, demographic trends, and program-specific needs. Student retention will investigate ways of reducing attrition and obtaining better data as to why students exit college programs. In addition, inquiries as to how current students influence future recruits, the feasibility of student housing, recruiting for specific academic and noncredit programs, and other issues will be investigated.
The College will investigate geographic expansion beyond Butler County. In considering the feasibility of such expansion, the College must respond to the following: how far do we expand; how is it funded; who accomplishes it; how does expansion impact our infrastructure; and, in what time frame?
The College will improve the coordination of data gathering and distribution of credible information. Evidence will support decision making in academic assessment, program development, enrollment management, integrated marketing, budget considerations, facility management and other College decisions.
The College will prioritize, plan for replacement, update or modernize, and fund the equipment necessary to meet its mission and goals. The facilities master plan will continue to be reviewed and developed for the main campus and all the sites with which BC3 is involved.
